On Wednesday, May 20th, 5/20/20, entities around the State College community (State College Area SD, Saint Joseph’s Catholic Academy, State College Little League, State College Teener League, Tussey Mountain Ski & Recreation, State College Spikes, Penn State Athletics, State College, Penn State, Patton, and Ferguson Township Police, Alpha, Port Matilda, and Boalsburg Fire Companies, Centre Life Link EMS, Forever Broadcasting, as well as Mount Nittany Medical Center) are joining together to honor the Class of 2020 and support the nurses, doctors, medical providers, and first responders on the front line of COVID-19 by lighting up our fields and facilities at 2020 hours (8:20 pm) for 20 minutes. Where available, our scoreboards will display the score as 20-20 in honor of this year’s graduating class, while 4th Down and 19 Yards to Go will be displayed as the down and distance signifying the hard work of our first responders and medical personnel to end the drive of  COVID-19. The Bryce Jordan Center will light up Maroon and White to honor the class of 2020 as well.  Please note that supporting students or residents are NOT permitted on school and facility grounds during this time. We encourage people to show support of this initiative from their homes. Please light up your homes and properties and take a selfie picture or video, post it to your social media site and tag our school, sports teams and organizations, as well as our local first responders and medical personnel on Twitter, Facebook and/or Instagram. #SCLightUpTheNight Forever Broadcasting will provide programming from 8:00 PM to 9:00 PM that will feature special guests, music from the State High Marching Band, and messages of support and thanks from members of our community to the High School Class of 2020, as well as area medical professionals and first responders. Community members should tune to MAJIC-FM (93.7) to listen to the programming.

We cannot stress this enough, supporters of this initiative should NOT travel onto school district property nor at any time exit their vehicles if they are driving nearby. Thank you!
