Planning Commission & Open Space Preservation Board Volunteer Opportunites

We are seeking volunteers to serve on our Planning Commission and Open Space Preservation Board.

Planning Commission (PC) – There are two (2) open positions as full members and two (2) alternate member positions.  The Planning Commission meets on the third Tuesday of each month at 7:00 p.m. These are four-year terms.  The main responsibility of the Planning Commission is to review and recommend action on Subdivision/Land Development Plans to the Board of Supervisors. They may propose new, review, and make recommendations to the Zoning and Subdivision Ordinances.

Open Space Preservation Board (OSPB) – There is one position as a full member.  The Open Space Preservation Board meets on the second Wednesday of each month at 7:00 p.m.  This is a four-year term.  The Open Space Preservation Board reviews new application requests, rates and inspects each potential property for entrance into the program and makes recommendation to the Planning Commission and Board of Supervisors.  They also complete five-year inspections on open space program properties.  The OSPB reviews and makes recommendations on any revisions to the Open Space Preservation Program Ordinance, land ratings and applications.
