Port Matilda Fire Company has been busy this year. As of August 1st, the company has responded to 25 fires, 71 public service calls (flooding, standbys, etc.), 26 motor vehicle accidents, 19 false alarms, and 18 medical assists with Port Matilda EMS.
Our members have completed more than 96 combined hours of training in Hazmat Awareness, Hazmat Ops Refresher, CPR, Basic Fire Police, Emergency Vehicle Driver training, Rapid Intervention Team Basics, Pumps Ops 1, and Highway Incident Scene Safety.
Port Matilda Fire Company is proud of its community service and fundraising activities this year, including the American Legion Parade and Festival, Community Yard Sale, Hall’s Fireworks, and in conjunction with Huston-Porters Youth Baseball a Paint and Sip night.
Upcoming events will be a Fire Prevention program for Port Matilda Elementary School in October, our annual Gun Raffle (October 6th), in cooperation with local churches a free Thanksgiving Dinner (November 17th), Santa Run (December 15th), and Children’s Christmas Party (December 16th). And as always, our friendly Fire Police will be helping keep our children safe on Trick or Treat night in the Borough.
All of this has been accomplished by our dedicated volunteers. But we still need YOU as a firefighter, fire police and/or support member. All required training is provided free for firefighters and fire police. Support members help with administrative tasks, social events, recruitment, fundraisers, etc. Please consider giving a few hours a month to help your community. The satisfaction you get from volunteering is priceless. . Unlike the EMS, no member receives any remuneration for their service.
